VANCOUVER The stakes may be low, but coach Travis Green says his Vancouver Canucks are playing hard to finish out the season.
The Canucks took points from a third-straight game on Tuesday, beating the Calgary Flames 4-2.
“We don’t go out on the ice to lose hockey games, Green said. We want guys that are competitive, we want guys that play to win. And it’s good that we’re doing that.”

What we know: Jack Eichel dropped a neutron bomb on the Buffalo Sabres. As the team’s captain revealed Monday, he’s “a bit upset about the way that things have been handled since I’ve been hurt…. There’s been a bit of a disconnect from the organization and myself.
“The most important thing is trying to get healthy and figure out a way to be available to play hockey next year wherever that might be.”

And for the league’s 24th-ranked man-advantage unit that had scored just once in its previous 20 attempts, the sight of Rathbone working seamlessly and having two scoring chances was a glimpse of what Green believes could be a solid future for the 21-year-old blueliner.
He had three shots and a shot block in the opening period in which he logged 5:28 and would finish with 16:20.
The Canucks got a brief scare in the second period when Rathbone blocked his third shot, a point effort by Dylan DeMelo that struck him in the right hand and had Rathbone in some discomfort at the bench.

Hockey Night in Canada between Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers, a couple of important issues had been resolved. With their win over Montreal Canadiens, the Toronto Maple Leafs clinched first place in the North Division; while with their
loss to Ottawa Senators, Winnipeg Jets ceded their final mathematical chance to overtake the Edmonton Oilers for second. Simply put, the Oil were locked into second place no matter what happened in their final four games of the season.

VANCOUVER - Leon Draisaitl knows there s a spotlight fixed firmly on his teammate Connor McDavid as the Edmonton Oilers captain approaches yet another milestone.
And the German sniper believes that s exactly the way it should be.
The entire Oilers locker room is pushing to get McDavid to the 100-point mark in the pandemic-condensed NHL season, Draisaitl said. He does so much for our team. He does so much for us on a nightly basis that the least we can do is help him out as much as we can. he said. It might not be that important to him, but it sure is important to us for him to get to that point.
