Apple Music has added the ability to search for music by record label.
Apple’s new label search feature is both useful to fans looking for music similar to their favorites and a potential boon for record labels working to build a brand identity.
Prior to the rollout fans searching by label only saw playlists with the label’s name that were often created by frustrated fans. That’s still the only label search option available on Spotify.
Apple’s label search rollout is a work in progress with Def Jam, Capitol, XL Recordings, Brainfeed, Stones Throw, and Dead Oceans among the 400 label pages created of the many thousands of labels that have catalogs worthy of curation.
