Letters to the Editor: May 19, 2021

Letters to the Editor: May 19, 2021 Governor’s ban on ‘vaccine passports’ doesn’t make sense While I can understand the position taken by Gov. Ron DeSantis on the privacy of health matters required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (“HIPAA”) regarding HIPPA rules on privacy of health matters, since we have encountered, endured and experienced this pandemic called COVID-19 for more than a year, and vaccinations have proven successful in stopping/slowing its spread, I cannot for the life of me understand his opposition to the so-called vaccine passports. He has not opposed the proof of being COVID-19 negative to anyone entering the United States of America as a violation of HIPAA, so why this discrepancy?

Historic Garden Week makes a comeback this spring

Historic Garden Week makes a comeback this spring Historic Garden Weeks returns By Elizabeth Holmes | April 18, 2021 at 11:45 PM EDT - Updated April 18 at 11:45 PM CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Spring has sprung and the flowers are blooming just in time for Historic Garden Week. The Charlottesville, Albemarle and Rivanna Garden Clubs hosted a walking tour of three different gardens in the area on Sunday to celebrate. Each garden is privately owned and curated by garden club members, who said they were ready to show off their work again after the celebration was cancelled last year. “Historic Garden Week actually started in 1929 and it was cancelled one other time and that was during World War II, so last year was only the second time in its history that it was cancelled,” said Historic Gardens Week Co-Chair Robin Cherry.
