Aspiring young artists invited to enter art competition

The event is open to children and young people up to 18 years of age. Last year, four students from the Garden County won prizes in the event, which is now in its 67th year. They were Emily Roe, a pupil at Temple Carrig School, Greystones; Brooke Mullen from Loreto Bray Secondary School; Chloe Hughes from Coláiste Chraobh Abhann, Kilcoole; and Ella Kelly from Ss Michael and Peter Junior School, Arklow. Each picked up a special merit award. Organisers say they hope that the competition will continue to see outstanding creativity and talent reflected in the finest and widest choice of entries submitted.

Local support for virtual Goal Mile

GOAL has thanked the hundreds of people all over the Garden County who turned out over Christmas to do a virtual GOAL Mile to support vulnerable communities all over the world. Every Christmas for four decades it has been a tradition for family, friends and neighbours in Wicklow to take time out to walk, run or jog a mile for GOAL at various locations to support the agency s work in 14 countries in Africa, Latin America and the Middle East. This year the GOAL Mile went virtual, allowing participants to register their mile at a time and place of their choosing, within the Covid guidelines.
