CMCSS receives $1 5M grant through Innovative High School Models

Clarksville NowCMCSSCMCSS has been awarded $1.5 million from the Tennessee Department of Education through a new grant. CLARKSVILLE, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System has been awarded $1.5 million from the Tennessee Department of Education through a new Innovative High School Models grant. The program is intended to foster local community partnerships, boost student readiness and prepare high school students for jobs and careers in the community. CMCSS is one of 21 districts across the state to receive this award. “These Innovative High School Models are another important step in connecting education to work,” said Jeff McCord, commissioner for the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development. “It’s initiatives like these that help increase the prosperity of young people and the communities in which they live.”

Small arms component manufacturer relocating headquarters in Clarksville

Hopkinsville, KY, USA / WHOP 1230 AM | News Radio May 13, 2021 | 8:05 AM The Clarksville-Montgomery County Industrial Development Board has announced that Troy Industries Inc. will relocate its U.S. manufacturing headquarters in Clarksville. A news release says Troy Industries has executed a lease agreement on a site at 1575 Corporate Parkway Boulevard owned by the IDB, formerly home to the Tennessee Rehab Center. Troy Industries plans to transition the facility into a design and manufacturing facility for top-quality small arms components and accessories. Mayor Joe Pitts says the company plans to invest $7.1 million and create 75 new jobs with the move. Industrial Development Board Chairman Wally Crow says, “Troy Industries is a veteran-friendly employer and will help create another valued veteran connection to employment for our active-duty service members when they ETS. Aligning new and expanding business with our current population is a great win for the community.”
