The Cavite State University-National Coffee Research, Development and Extension Center (CvSU-Ncrdec) has concluded its extensive webinar series on coffee, dubbed as Coffee BREAK or Breakthrough on Research and Extension for the Advancement of Knowledge of Stakeholders.
“The webinar series aims to bring coffee education in the digital platform which commenced in July 2020 and concluded in December 2020,” Engineer Gerry Castillo, CvSU-Ncrdec director, said.
Nine topics were tackled by coffee experts: Characterization and Identification of Cultivated Coffee in the Philippines by Miriam Baltazar, research unit head of CvSU-Ncrdec (July 30); Building up the Chemistry: Investigating the Science behind Coffee Processing by Ruel Mojica, vice president for research and extension, CvSU (August 20); Declaration: Communicating Coffee Products through Branding and Packaging by Rene Jethro Abary of the Department of Science and Technology (DoST)-Industrial Technology Development Institute (A

A new laboratory for additive manufacturing was inaugurated on Tuesday, the Department of Science and Technology – Industrial Technology Development Institute (DOST-ITDI) said.
A project under the Science Department’s Advanced Additive Manufacturing R&D Program or AMCEN, it employs additive manufacturing or AM and undertakes research and development on materials for use in additive manufacturing abled or AMabled products. Their aim is to reduce cost of raw materials by using local resources and increase effective use of AMabled products.
Also a DOST Grants in Aid (DOST-GIA) Program funded project, MATDEV Laboratory is one of two facilities housed under AMCEN. The DOST-GIA Program provides financial grants to higher education institutes and research and development institutes to conduct programs and projects attuned to the Harmonized National Research and Development Agenda (HNRDA).
