Miti appeals to manufacturing sector to help curb Covid-19 to keep economy open, Eurocham tells members

PETALING JAYA: The International Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti) has appealed to all foreign and local companies to help reduce Covid-19 infections and break the chain of infections in order to continue keeping the economy open for business, says the EU-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Eurocham). Eurocham, in a letter to its members on Sunday (Jan 24), said that its CEO Sven Schneider attended a meeting with Miti, represented by its secretary-general Datuk Lokman Hakim Ali, on the evening of Jan 22 to discuss Covid-19 infections involving workers in the manufacturing sector. The statement noted that the preliminary outcome of the meeting involved the sector needing to take action to minimise community movement and social activities, such as companies being required to assign at least one human resources personnel to manage and coordinate foreign workers staying in dormitories.
