35 U.S. Capitol officers have been placed under investigation or suspended with pay in connection to last month’s insurrection.
Fox 5 reported on Thursday.
“Our Office of Professional Responsibility is investigating the actions of 35 police officers from that day. We currently have suspended six of those officers with pay. Acting Chief
Yogananda Pittman has directed that any member of her department whose behavior is not in keeping with the Department’s Rules of Conduct will face appropriate discipline,” the statement read.

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), a key swing vote in the Senate, said he was frustrated by Vice President Kamala Harris giving an interview in his home state of West Virginia, saying he was not notified by the Biden administration beforehand.
“I saw [the interview], I couldn’t believe it. No one called me [about it],” Manchin, considered perhaps the most conservative Democrat in the Senate, told WSAZ. “We’re going to try to find a bipartisan pathway forward, but we need to work together. That’s not a way of working together.”

Steve Quakenbush, executive director of the Finney County Museum, said this is the first Front Door Gallery exhibit of the year. Typically, they try to have four to six a year.
Titled “Ad Astra Per Aspera, Kansas Latin motto, the exhibit tells how the admission of Kansas to the Union on Jan. 29, 1861, was a spark that helped ignite the American Civil War, Quakenbush said. It s often overlooked. One of the major national issues in the late 1850s and into 1860, was whether Kansas would come into the Union as a slave state or a free, non-slave state, he said. It was actually President Lincoln s advocacy of Kansas entering the Union as a free state that enraged a lot of House members and senators from Southern, slave-holding states and prompted several of them to resign from Congress, go home and begin forming the confederacy.
