Monday Accident Takes Life of SW Wisconsin Man
A Southwest Wisconsin man has died in a two-vehicle accident Monday afternoon (May 24) at an intersection of U.S. Highway 151 in Lafayette County.
Authorities were called out just after 4pm Monday to the town of Kendall, Wisconsin, just south of the Iowa County Line.

A vehicle driven by 60 year old Howard Mutert of Platteville, pulled out into the path of a vehicle driven by 22 year old Grace Pawlowski of Waukesha, and the vehicles collided, sending Mutert s vehicle into the median.
Mutert was pronounced dead at the scene; his passenger, 37 year old William Simba, also of Platteville, was sent to an area hospital with serious injuries. Pawlowski was treated for minor injuries, then released.

If you were wondering like me what was being put in front of the Midland County Annex where the old service station used to be, it will be a veterans memorial.
According to the Midland Reporter-Telegram, the project was approved in February 2018 and was scheduled to be completed and opened in six months, but that did not happen thanks to unforeseen setbacks and a pandemic.
But now the project is getting a good shot in the arm toward completion after Midland County Commissioners Court approved $70,000 to complete the site with paving, fencing, and other work needed.

Main Gate of Green Hill Cemetery to Open for Memorial Day Weekend
The Main Gate for the Green Hill Cemetery will be accessible on 15th at Lewis (north of the cemetery) for Memorial Day weekend.
A temporary surface will be in place to allow for additional access to the Cemetery to facilitate Memorial Day plans.
The closure to traffic will resume on Tuesday, June 1st.
Cemetery access from the south is available through the Willett Street gate.

The annual Planet Troopers event is coming up quickly on June 1st. This event is sponsored by First Basin Credit Union and is in its fifth year. In conjunction with Keep Odessa Beautiful, parents and their children have the opportunity to participate in cleaning up the community together.
