Eleven members of the Class of 2021 who have distinguished themselves for academic excellence, service and leadership at East Tennessee State University have been inducted into the 1911 Society.
Named in commemoration of the year when ETSU was founded, the 1911 Society recognizes the universityâs most notable graduates from undergraduate, graduate and professional programs. The selection committee evaluates applicants on academic achievement; sustained service; honors, awards, recognitions, publications and presentations; demonstrated leadership; work experience, such as study abroad, internships, externships and clinicals; and personal narratives.
ETSU President Brian Noland said, âFor more than a century, ETSU has carried forth a mission to improve the quality of life for the people of this region. Judith Ann Kieffer
Judith Ann Kieffer, 71, passed away suddenly Dec. 18, 2019, at her home in South Knoxville. Judy was born on March 30, 1948, in Parkersburg, West Virginia. She grew up on a 94-acre farm in Jackson County where she attended Cavin Fork School, a one-room schoolhouse, and then Humphrey Elementary School. After graduating from Parkersburg High School she attended and graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. In 1968 she moved to Knoxville, Tennessee, working free-lance jobs and attending the University of Tennessee. Always the adventurist Judy took off 3 months to backpack through Europe. Later completing her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
Judy’s advertising career as a designer, illustrator, and art director for Lavidge & Associates, Channel 26, Watson’s, Levi’s and Goody’s spanned 40 years. After retiring she became very passionate about the work and mission of RAM where she volunteered her time and talents eventually becoming an employee.

MORRISTOWN, Tenn. Remote Area Medical will host a free clinic in Morristown this weekend, May 1-2.
The free clinic will be held at Walters State Community College at 500 South Davy Crockett Parkway in Morristown.
According to a press release, all RAM services are free, and no ID is required. Free dental, vision, and medical services will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
