File photo. Health officials are not prepared to lift restrictions allow the reopening of daycares for fear of losing even one child to COVID-19. This was the feedback received by the Daycare Owners’ Association following a recent meeting with Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh, Chief Medical Officer, Dr Roshan Parasram and Technical Director of the Epidemiology Division, Dr Avery Hinds. The Association was represented by Aaron Pollard and two other representatives. Daycares have been closed since March 2020 which has seen a number of owners close their doors permanently. The Association presented a number of proposals, which were ultimately rejected by the Minister and his team.
