The public’s expectations of charities are, at heart, quite simple. People want to make a difference to the causes they care about. This means that when they donate their hard-earned cash, they want to see a high proportion of the money spent on the end cause, they want to know that charities are being true to their values, and they want charities to show in real terms the difference they are making. In other words, as our published research shows, people want evidence that charities are what they say they are.
