As per the order, the Chairman DDMA has said that the step has been taken in wake of surge in number of positive cases in Srinagar district and as the major focus has presently shifted to COVID-19 mitigation and management. “However proper health care of patients suffering from terminal diseases is to be accorded priority as well”, he added.
The DDMA Chairman’s order also added that a mechanism was needed to be put in place so that medical condition of such patients may not deteriorate further.
The order also stated that the DDMA Srinagar has taken the initiative to ensure that Cancer patients who are on Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy, Renal failure patients who are on dialysis, Cancer patients dated for surgery, Children who have schedule for immunization, besides Patients who underwent Emergency Orthopedic surgery for follow up, need to be taken care of and to make sure that timely access to treatment for such patients is guaranteed.

“The pandemic has come as an unprecedented and unforeseen challenge for all of us and especially the health fraternity. The prime need is to build trust between the public and the health system”, the GMC Principal said.

‘With the number of Covid-19 patients increasing, the administration is also ramping up facilities, equipment, infrastructure besides increasing the number of frontline workers. Our health workers are working round the clock and we are trying our best to serve the public. GMC Jammu being the only tertiary care health centre in the region, the challenge before us is huge,” said Dr Shashi and added that the challenge can only be met when public and the health personnel work together.
1496 test positive, 1070 recover

JAMMU, May 10: Surge continued in COVID deaths in the Union Territory especially in Jammu region which accounted for 39 casualties today in a total of 56 while 3614 persons tested positive, 1496 of them in Jammu.
Out of 39 Corona casualties in Jammu region, 31 were reported in Jammu district, two each Udhampur, Kathua and Rajouri and one each in Samba and Reasi districts. Seventeen of the dead were women. Four persons succumbed to the virus at home and were later shifted to hospital.
A 93-year-old man from Anand Nagar Talab Tillo, 70-year-old from Rajpura Mangotrian, 62-year-old from Subash Nagar and 46-year-old from Canal Road, all in Jammu district, died of Coronavirus at home.
