SSLC exams, to be held between June 21 and July 5, offline.
“Results will be declared as per the continuous and comprehensive evaluation programme. Schools have been asked to complete the evaluation process by April 30,” said Primary and Secondary Education Minister
S Suresh Kumar. He added schools should not insist on students attending these examinations physically. “The evaluation and announcement of results must be a tool, only for assessing the learning capabilities of the children. Unachieved learning outcomes will be addressed as part of the bridge course during the commencement of the next academic year,” said the Education Minister.

The Department of Primary and Secondary Education is yet to take a call on how students from classes one to nine will be assessed for the 2021-22 academic year. On April 5, Primary and Secondary Education Minister S. Suresh Kumar had said a decision would be taken in two days. However, even now there is no clarity on assessments, much to the dismay of not just parents and students, but also school managements.
Many students who want to go back to their home towns are unable to do so as they are not sure if the government will announce an examination or another form of assessment for which their physical presence would be necessary.

Most stakeholders at the meeting convened by Minister for Primary and Secondary Education S. Suresh Kumar on Monday demanded that there was need for some form of assessment to gauge the learning outcome for 2020-2021 academic year for classes one to nine.
The meeting saw school managements, educational experts, and parents’ associations discuss how assessment should be carried out as schools had to be closed due to the second wave of COVID-19 infections.
