In honour of the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the iDEA Project of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) under the ICT Division of Bangladesh introduced the BANGABANDHU INNOVATION GRANT – BIG 2021. The prime goal of this initiative is to create a startup ecosystem and inspire youth by nourishing their entrepreneurial mindset. To Promote BIG -2021 as an international flagship program, The iDEA project has taken numerous initiatives such as University activation programs, TV Reality shows, and international roadshow campaigns.

Startup Bangladesh, the flagship venture capital fund of the ICT ministry, announced the first series of investments of Tk 15 crore, or $1.75 million, for seven startups yesterday.
The government formed Startup Bangladesh in March 2020 with an allocated capital of Tk 500 crore to help new entrepreneurs innovate faster, create new jobs, develop technical skills and realise the vision of Digital Bangladesh.
This time, the company has launched the Shoto Borshe Shoto Asha initiative to invest Tk 100 crore in 50 startups in 2021 to mark the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh.

The government has recognized the information technology (IT) zone at the Korean Export Processing Zone (KEPZ) in Chattogram as hi-tech park.
State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak made the announcement after a tri-party agreement at the KEPZ auditorium at Anwara in the port city on Monday.

A hi-tech park will be set up at Korean Export Processing Zone (KEPZ) in Chattogram, which is owned by Korean global business conglomerate Youngone.
The KEPZ will develop 100 acres out of 2,492 acres of land to set up the country s first privately-owned IT and hi-tech park.
A tripartite agreement was signed among Bangladesh High-Tech Park Authority (BHTPA), the KEPZ and Startup Bangladesh at the zone yesterday to develop a high-tech industry and innovation ecosystem, says a press release.
Cooperation will focus on developing infrastructures, increasing foreign investment, strengthening the start-up ecosystem and support entrepreneurs through upskilling by way of startup camps, design thinking and innovation projects.
