Highlights The campaigning for the first phase of the Uttar Pradesh panchayat election ended today The eligible voters will be able to exercise their franchise from 7 am to 6 pm on the polling day Lucknow: The campaigning for the first phase of the Uttar Pradesh panchayat election, which will be held on April 15, ended on Tuesday (April 14).  The eligible voters will be able to exercise their franchise from 7 am to 6 pm on the polling day. The counting of votes of Uttar Pradesh panchayat elections will take place on May 2. Notably, the police in Bhadohi district arrested two panchayat election candidates for distributing money among voters, and one former block chairman for threatening balloters, according to officials. Arrests were made on Monday night, the officials told PTI.

Northlines Tarigami writes to LG regarding concerns of DDCs, others Srinagar, Apr 06 (KNO): CPI (M) senior leader and former Kulgam legislator, Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami has written to the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha regarding the concerns of newly elected District Development Council (DDC) members, their chairpersons and vice Chairpersons including Panchayat and Block Development Council members about protocol and honorarium. Although, warrant of Precedence in their favour has been considered, other issues remain unsettled sofar, Tarigami said. “It has been almost a month since newly elected members of District Development Councils (DDCs), including their chairpersons and vice- chairpersons, expressed their dis-satisfaction while in Jammu regarding protocol and honorarium announced by the administration. It was only after your personal intervention and assurance for redressal of their genuine grievances that they called off their protest,” the letter reads.
