Updated: 10:24 PM EDT Jul 20, 2021 WXII12.com Web Staff Rescue crews are search for two men following a helicopter crash in the Outer Banks.According to NBC affiliate WAVY, a friend of the two men reportedly told the Coast Guard they had lost communication with the helicopter Monday around 6:40 p.m.On Tuesday morning, a Coast Guard helicopter located debris of a helicopter in Albemarle Sound, roughly 9 miles north of the Alligator River Bridge.A backpack with personal belongings was also discovered several miles away.WAVY also reports the Robinson R44 helicopter took off from Mecklenburg Brunswick Regional Airport (MQI), en route to the Dare County Regional Airport (KAVC).Multiple agencies are searching for the two men.This is a developing story.
