Multiple reasons behind the rise in homicides: Drugs, neighborhood turf wars and domestic disputes
Vance recalled how during his patrol days with the Jackson Police Department in the 1980s, some shootings in the city were a result of turf wars between two rival gangs, the Vice Lords and Gangster Disciples. The gangs had migrated from Chicago to Mississippi.
Some of the current killings are more a result of neighborhood rivalries than organized gangs, Vance said, although there are some similarities to gang activity, including underlying drug activity. In other cases, the homicides are a result of domestic disputes.

Referred to as a “Block19,” Culper Precision called its creation of a Lego-covered gun kit a childhood dream.
That dream, at least for now, has ended, as the United States-based gun company has pulled the Lego-encased gun kit from its online store. The move came after a request from Lego, the Denmark toy company.
“We have contacted the company and they have agreed to remove the product from their website and not make or sell anything like this in the future,” Lego said in a statement to The Associated Press.
Two alphas met both inside and outside of the ring at Saturday’s UFC match.
UFC 264, Connor McGregor vs. Dustin Poirier was the place to be Saturday night. The star-studded event drew massive attention on social media especially with President Trump making a grand entrance to the sold-out arena. Upon Trump’s arrival alongside UFC President Dana White, the crowd went wild and broke out in chants, “USA USA.” One viral moment captured on video shows actor-director Mel Gibson saluting the President in greeting as he walks by. The novelty of such an exchange was not lost on the public.

People shouldn’t have to pay to exercise a constitutionally protected right. It’s why poll taxes are unconstitutional. Yet in non-constitutional carry states, we have to pay for permits–from carry permits to purchase permits in some states. How is that right?
The easy answer is that it’s not.
In Indiana, though, they’ve addressed that and have started issuing lifetime permits. These two factors, apparently, have Moms Demand Action getting all kinds of worked up.
A group of mothers is urging lawmakers to take action on gun safety after a new law made it free for Hoosiers to apply for lifetime gun permits.
