Trump-endorsed South Carolina GOP Chair Drew McKissick won reelection, defeating lawyer Lin Wood for the GOP state chairmanship Saturday after the party had conducted the largest reorganization in the state’s history.
McKissick will remain SCGOP chair for another term after winning reelection at the 2021 state convention. Recently, the state party underwent its largest reorganization, with this one notably being the largest.
After McKissick’s victory, he said in a statement, “Thanks to the grassroots activists across the state, the SCGOP is stronger than it’s ever been.”
He later added, “We’ve proven we have a winning coalition of conservatives who are committed to beating Democrats, and I’m honored they’ve chosen to reelect me to lead that fight. Now we can roll up our sleeves to continue what we do best–win elections.”

ATLANTA – Speaker of the House David Ralston (R – 7) commented on the General Assembly’s accomplishments for the 2021 session.
Starting off with the hottest issue of 2021, Ralston stated that he was “very pleased” with the Election Integrity Committee’s work. Chaired by Barry Fleming, they reviewed numerous bills submitted by Republicans and Democrats until the final version of SB 202 was passed. It added two optional Sunday voting days into Georgia law and added another mandatory Saturday.
“I expect many rural Georgia counties won’t vote on Sundays,” Ralston commented, adding that rural Georgians go to church and eat with families on the Sabbath. Also, some smaller counties might have issues staffing polling places on Sunday.

Following the November voting last year, Florida Republicans were euphoric, patting themselves on the back for pulling off a pristine, unblemished, pitch-perfect statewide election. Yippee!
Terms like âgold standard,â âa model for the rest of the nationâ and a âbeacon of lightâ were thrown around to describe Floridaâs elections. This simply cannot stand.
