Voter Information Slips will be distributed house to house: ECI

STAFF REPORTER GUWAHATI: The ECI (Election Commission of India) will provide Voter Information Slips to each electorate. This move will facilitate the voter to know the serial number of electoral roll of his/her polling station, time and date of poll, and other necessary details. The ECI took this decision on February 26, 2021. Earlier, the ECI used to provide Photo Voter Slips , which also contained the respective photographs of the electorates. However, the Voter Information Slip or VIS will not have photograph of the electorate. However, the VIS will not be allowed to be used as identity proof by the voters. Notably, the ECI discontinued the use of also the Photo Voter Slip as an identity proof on the poll day with effect from February 28, 2019.

36 polling stations in hill areas have no mobile connectivity Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA As many as 36 polling stations located in the hilly areas in the constituencies of Bhavani Sagar and Anthiyur have no mobile connectivity and the entire polling will be videographed. Of the total 2,215 polling stations located at 926 locations in all the eight constituencies in the district, 118 were identified as places located in remote areas of Bargur and Talavadi where tribal people reside. A total of 16 stations in Bhavani Sagar constituency and 20 stations in Anthiyur are located in remote hilly areas that have no mobile connectivity and passing on the polling percentage on the poll day on April 6 will be a challenging task for the election officials.
