Slow, steady: Road projects to affect Texoma routes

Slow and steady traffic made its way across Grayson County Monday morning as area residents and travelers made their way through the Texoma streets on their routes to work. The Texas Department of Transportation has advised motorists in the region to remain alert and pay special attention to all signs, barricades and traffic controls, and reduce their speed as they approach and travel through work zones.
TxDOT has many projects planned that will affect Grayson and Fannin County roads this week. These schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions, equipment failure or other unforeseen issues, a release from the department said. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems.

Individuals who plan on traveling on US Highway 82 with the intension of taking the Loy Lake Road exit may want to find a new route for the next few months as the ramp will be closed for widening this week.

April is Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month. The Fannin County Children’s Center has several activities planned for this month.
The Children’s Center is putting up pinwheel displays across Fannin County. Each display includes 117 blue and silver pinwheels in honor of the 117 children who were confirmed victims of child abuse last year in Fannin County. Displays can be found in Bonham, Ector, Honey Grove, Ivanhoe, Leonard, Savoy and Trenton.
On April 6, the Fannin County Commissioners are scheduled to pass a proclamation at their regular weekly meeting, declaring April to be Child Abuse Awareness month for Fannin County.
Loy Lake exit ramp on US 82 to close til July; other road reports

A portion of US Highway 82 is under construction this week as crews work on widening the roadway. The Texas Department of Transportation has asked drivers to be aware of the Loy Lake Road exit ramp which will be closed through July 2021.
TxDOT has released information related to its planned road projects. Traffic wishing to access Loy Lake Road is requested to take the SH 91 exit ramp (#643), or the US 75 exit ramp, the release said.
Planned projects are subject to change due to weather conditions, equipment failure or other unforeseen issues.
