If you wonder why you ve seen only bumblebees buzzing around your azaleas, you may wonder: where are the honeybees?
The answer is: honeybees don t care for azalea blossoms.
They like other flowering plants.
Such easy conclusions that honeybees are on the wane is misleading, according to Dr. Jeff Harris at Mississippi State University.
âThe plight of honey bees has been somewhat hyped,â Harris said in a recent interview.
âThere are about 15-20 million more managed colonies of honeybees worldwide than there were a dozen years ago. Honeybees are not in danger of extinction as some fear.â

LAUREL, Mont. - Spring weather is finally here, which means itâs bee season.
We spent time with a local Beekeeper to find out why we should be looking out for our fuzzy yellow friends.
Owner of Drange Apiary, Judie Drange tells us honeybees are responsible for â
of all the food we eat.
âDon t be scared if you see a bee, they are there for us, and we need to protect them,â says Drange, âGrow some flowers, just have some fields out there, don t cut every dandelion you see, donât cut down every weed, because that is what they are working on.â
