DePaul s senior guard Deja Church notched the 1,000th point of her career, while scoring 13 points and grabbing 12 rebounds as DePaul topped Butler 80-66. Her grand point total includes her first two years at Michigan.
DePaul started slow, falling behind 6-2, but a 15-4 run allowed them to end the first quarter leading 17-12. DePaul led 41-27 at the half and 65-46 after three, before ending with the 14 point victory. DePaul held the lead for 31:29 to Butler s 6:29.
DePaul topped Butler in points from turnovers (31-15), points in the paint (42-30), second chance points (13-9), fast break points (23-13) and points from the bench (18-14). DePaul shot 41.7% from the field, 31.6% from three point land and 73.7% from the free throw line.

Sonya Morris scored 17 points for the Blue Demons (9-3, 6-1 Big East Conference) and Church added 13 points, reaching the 1,000 club, with 12 rebounds. Genesis Parker scored 18 points for Butler (1-10, 1-9), which has lost three straight including a 103-35 decision at No. 3 UConn. Okako Adika added 16, Tenley Dowell 14, a career high, and Jaia Alexander had 12 with 10 rebounds. The Blue Demons scored the last seven points of the first quarter to take a 17-12 lead. The Bulldogs were seven behind late in the second when DePaul had a 7-0 run for a 41-27 advantage at the break.
2021/01/14 09:46 CHICAGO (AP) Dee Bekelja scored 22 points and Lexi Held had 21 points, five rebounds and seven assists to help No. 19 DePaul beat St. John s 101-84 on Wednesday night. All five starters for DePaul (7-3, 4-1 Big East) scored in double figures. Deja Church added 18 points and nine rebounds, and Jorie Allen and Sonya Morris each scored 17 points. Morris also had nine assists and Allen grabbed seven rebounds. DePaul opened the game on an 11-2 run with scoring from five different players, and led 26-14 after the first quarter. Church, Held and Allen combined for 35 points in the first half to help the Blue Demons lead 51-31.
The DePaul women’s basketball team played their first game in nine days on Wednesday night against the visiting St. John’s Red Storm. The Blue Demons were looking to further cement themselves as the second best in the Big East coming off of a win over Villanova on Jan 4, and they did just that on.

Last night, the DePaul Blue Demons cruised to an easy 101-84 win over St. John s. The win came after an eight day layoff caused by the postponement of games against Butler and Creighton. The Blue Demons showed absolutely no rust from the long break.
DePaul scored first and never lost the lead. Their biggest lead was 26 points midway through the third quarter.
DePaul led in most team categories, except for bench points, with St. John s outscoring DePaul 19-6. DePaul led in points in the paint (56-48), points from turnovers (27-12), second chance points (19-9) and fast break points (33-30).
