Mumbai, April 26 (IANS) Ramping up its operations for Covid-care, the Reliance Foundation (RF) on Monday announced setting up 875 beds in different city hospitals across Mumbai, making it the biggest contribution by any philanthropic organisation in the state as it grapples with the impact of the coronavirus.
Strengthening collaboration with the Maharashtra government and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), H.N. Reliance Foundation Hospital (HNRFH) will manage a 650-bed facility at the National Sports Club of India (NSCI).
This will include takeover of the management of the 550-bed ward from May 1 and creation of another 100 ICU beds from May 15, said a RF spokesperson.

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 26 (ANI): In response to the massive surge of COVID-19 cases in Mumbai, the Reliance Foundation (RF) has scaled up its operations to address the growing needs of COVID management in the city and strengthen the Government s fight against the pandemic.
With 875 beds for COVID patients, Reliance Foundation has made the largest contribution to COVID care in Mumbai by any philanthropic organization.
As per a statement, Reliance has undertaken four more significant initiatives, in the battle against the pandemic in Mumbai.

Technology giants Google, Microsoft and Amazon have pledged support through various initiatives to help with the ongoing oxygen and medical equipment shortage in the country. While Google will provide Rs 135 crore in funding, Amazon will urgently airlift over 8,000 oxygen concentrators and 500 BiPAP machines from Singapore.
Sundar Pichai, CEO, Alphabet, tweeted: “Devastated.Google and Googlers are providing Rs 135 crore in funding to GiveIndia, Unicef for medical supplies.”
Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, in a tweet said: “I am heartbroken by the current situation in India. I’m grateful the US government is mobilising to help. Microsoft will continue to use its voice, resources, and technology to aid relief efforts and support the purchase of critical oxygen concentration devices.”
