We are closely monitoring a frontal system that could enter our listening areas on Wednesday evening. This will also continue through the overnight hours into Thursday morning. Impact Area: Potential Timeline: Threats: A brief tornado James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist noted that “Rain and storms return to the state late Wednesday night into the pre-dawn hours Thursday; SPC has defined a marginal risk (level 1/5) for that part of Alabama west of a line from Athens to Vance to Linden to Chatom.”

Central Alabama Cold Snap, Freeze Warning Friday

After yesterday’s storms passed through our area, it left behind some chilly temperatures. This morning some of our listening areas woke up to temperatures in the high 30s and low 40s. The National Weather Service in Birmingham has upgraded the previous Freeze Watch to a “Freeze Warning for all of Central AL Thursday night and Friday morning. Temperatures will fall into the mid-20s north to low 30s south.” What you can expect is “sub-freezing temperatures as low as 28 expected. For the Wind Advisory, north winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph expected.” The Freeze Warning timeframe is from 1 am to 9 am on Friday, April 2, 2021.
