City of Peoria has its first test of new snow-fighting practices when 3 7 inches of snow falls over three days

PEORIA – The first snowstorm of 2021 brought a bit less than 4 inches of snow to the city of Peoria but, more importantly, a shot of confidence for the city’s beleaguered public works department. Sie Maroon, the city’s assistant public works director and the head of the “snow fighters” team of plow drivers, said the process worked well. “Really, overall, it took us a little bit longer, but we expected that as the routes have grown compared to where we were in the past years,” he said. With that being said, we still attacked the snow and ice storms the same way every time. It just took a bit longer.”
