Youth golf organization to hold virtual gala
Pro Kids-First Tee, San Diego is set to host a virtual fundraising gala on June 12 that will feature former PGA Tour Pro Chris Riley and Peak Performance Consultant Dr. Jay Brunza. The virtual gala, “Always OPEN: A Celebration of Pro Kids,” will celebrate the organization’s resilience and perseverance over the past year when Pro Kids continued to provide resources, support and connection. Guests will have a virtual opportunity to hear from the organization’s leaders, the youths of Pro Kids, and these special guests. Local guests have the option of having food and wine delivered to enjoy during the event as well. Pro Kids-First Tee, San Diego was founded in 1994 by former San Diego Charger Ernie Wright with the idea that teaching underserved youths how to play golf could help develop skills needed for success in school and life. ALPHARETTA – The number of older children in foster care continues to rise in Georgia, and FaithBridge Foster care is seeking additional foster parents to provide loving homes for these children.
As part of National Foster Care Month in the month of May, FaithBridge is working to raise awareness of the growing number of children ages 13 and older in foster care who need placement in homes where a parent or guardian can love and nurture them.
Data shows that in 2015, about 20 percent of children referred to FaithBridge Foster Care by the state Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) were children ages 13 and older. By 2020, that number had risen to 49 percent.

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) Innovation Church in Lafayette is launching the city s first Foster Closet. The donation service was created to meet the needs of foster families here locally.
It s specifically designed to help bridge the gaps that potential foster families can face. The closet creators, Pastors Billy and Mandy Holden say this started from their own personal experience with fostering.
The couple decided to become foster parents about three years ago. That s when they realized furnishing a bedroom, gathering clothes, and getting other child items is quite costly and overwhelming.

Promises2Kids is celebrating its 40th anniversary of providing hope, support and opportunities for San Diego foster children, and has partnered up with 23 local restaurants to help support the 3,000 children in foster care. The campaign will run throughout the month of May, in celebration of National Foster Care Month.
It is finally time to get out and patronize restaurants that have been hit hard due to the Covid-19 pandemic. By making a commitment to visit local restaurants, the community will also be supporting San Diego foster children.
