South Jersey Shows Off Rescue Pups For National Rescue Dog Day

This isn t the first time I ve bragged on my Mia girl and it certainly won t be the last. I ll just come out and say it: I m a crazy dog mom. Guess what? I m not sorry for it, either, haha! Yesterday was National Rescue Dog Day. It s a day that hits my heart a little bit harder over the last year or so. We adopted my 2-year-lab mix about four months before COVID-19 hit and I cannot tell you how much of a joy it s been to have her by my side throughout the last year and a half. WATCH: Chris Evans breaks hearts sharing moment he found his beloved dog in a shelter

LMFM By Amanda Flannery Our hearts are melting. Chris Evans has gone and done it with the sweetest clip of him meeting his beloved rescue dog, Dodger, for the first time.  The Avengers star posted the heartwarming video online, showing the moment they met in a shelter in Savannah in 2017, where he was filming Gifted. The heartwarming video sees Chris approach Dodger s cage and put out his hand to rub the pup.  Immediately, Dodger visibly relaxes, wagging his tail and enjoying the comfort of human touch, and even giving the paw through the gate.  Alongside the video, Evans wrote: Happy #nationalrescuedogday. This is the moment I met Dodger.

By Renee DiNino When we’re kinder to animals, we’re kinder to people. I cannot take credit for that phrase, but I say it every single day. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, things were “normal” in the animal world. Shelters were open; rescues were fostering and doing their best to get animals adopted safely, and were watching out for neglect and abuse cases. Animal control officers were answering calls, picking up strays or dumped pets, arresting animal abusers – you know, “normal.” When the pandemic became a reality in Connecticut, it seemed as if a magic wand spread its reach across the state, edge to edge, over all municipal shelters, rescues, and pet adoption facilities. All dogs and cats were placed in homes or foster homes. And then, nothing. Absolutely nothing. In fact, calls to animal control reduced drastically.
