Researchers at the Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA) have released a detailed and wide-ranging report revealing the toll of the COVID-19 crisis on the health and social circumstances of Ireland’s older adults. The report was launched by Frank Feighan, TD, Minister of State for Public Health, Well Being and the National Drugs Strategy.
The TILDA COVID-19 report delves into a broad range of factors that affect the lives of adults aged 60 years and over during the first few months of the pandemic, including changes to everyday activities, social interactions, physical activity, and other behaviours, as a consequence of measures put in place to curb the spread of the virus.

Two people are in custody tonight after Gardai seized more than €1.1 million worth of suspected cannabis and €100,000 cash as well as a firearm in a major operation.
Gardai attached to the National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) arrested a 29-year-old man and one woman (26) in the course of ongoing investigations targeting persons suspected to be involved in organised crime.
The officers, supported by the Garda Dog Unit, conducted searches in counties Monaghan and Louth at around midday today.
During the course of these searches, cannabis herb with an estimated street value of €1,120,000 was discovered. Gardaí also found a firearm, ammunition, and €100,000 in cash, which they believe is from the proceeds of crime.
