MEMPHIS, Tenn. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR) deployed 21 medical providers and other staff from the National Disaster Medical System (NDMS) to provide temporary support at two drive thru community vaccination sites in Tennessee, one in Germantown and the other in Whitehaven. The deployed personnel are mostly from other cities and towns in Tennessee who wanted to deploy to help their fellow Tennesseans beat this deadly disease.

Joshua Colon allegedly admitted to stealing three vials containing 10 doses each of the Moderna vaccine and attempted to cover up the theft by forging the vaccine screening and consent forms for the missing vaccines, cops said.
A Florida man named 2020 s “Paramedic of the Year” has been arrested for allegedly stealing COVID-19 vaccines intended for first responders after he said he was ordered to do the dirty work by his supervisor, Polk County Sheriff’s officials said at a Tuesday news conference.
Joshua Colon, 31, allegedly admitted to stealing three vials containing 10 doses each of the Moderna vaccine and attempted to cover up the theft by forging the vaccine screening and consent forms for the missing vaccines that were supposed to be given to firefighters, according to his affidavit, the sheriff s office said.

A 17-year Polk County Fire Rescue captain turned himself in to face charges in connection with the alleged theft of COVID-19 vaccines, but not before asking to retire.
Tony Damiano, 55, turned himself into Polk County Jail in Bartow about 2:15 p.m. Wednesday. He faces one felony count of official misconduct and one misdemeanor count of petty larceny.
Damiano was wanted in connection with the theft of three doses of Moderna vaccine, which Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said was carried out by 31-year-old paramedic Joshua Colon at Damiano s order.
Colon was arrested on Monday. At the time, Damiano was driving home from California after being deployed with the National Disaster Medical System to aid in the pandemic.

Joshua Colon, 31, was arrested Monday by the Polk County Sheriff s Office after confessing to intentionally stealing three doses of Moderna vaccine then forging paperwork in attempt to cover his actions, according to the Sheriff s Office. We have a responsibility to uphold the community s trust. We found in one of these opportunities we didn t do that, Robert Weech, chief of Polk County Fire Rescue said. We are deeply disappointed.
According to Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, Colon said he stole the vaccines earlier this month at the request of his supervisor, Capt. Tony Damiano, who sought the vaccine for his elderly mother.
