Dr. Anthony Fauci can add “Hollywood star” to his list of credentials thanks to a new documentary from Disney’s Nat Geo that will explore the career of the physician-turned-media darling who became the country’s anointed authority on the coronavirus pandemic.
National Geographic Documentary Films announced Monday that John Hoffman and Janet Tobias will direct
Fauci, a documentary feature that will trace the doctor’s career through seven presidential administrations and explore his role as the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease.
Among the movie’s producers is Jon Bardin, who produced the recent Stacey Abrams documentary

Dustin Diamond, aka Screech of Saved by the Bell fame, has passed away at the age of 44. The actor dies just less than 3 weeks after going public with having stage 4 lung cancer. Diamond had undergone his first chemo treatment on January 21. Since his diagnosis his health deteriorated quickly. Many of Diamond s castmates posted tributes on social media after hearing the news of his passing.

Fauci became a vital source of information during the pandemic, with his “just the facts” style acting as a necessary counter to President Trump’s blind insistence that ‘one day, it’s like a miracle, it will disappear.” Fauci found himself on coffee mugs and t-shirts, as well as spoofed on “SNL.” He was a hero for those who supported applying a science-based approach to dealing with a worsening public health crisis, but not everyone was a fan. Fauci has also had contend with death threats and the ire of some far-right talking heads.

Many films are hosted by like-minded organizations. Two films are of particular interest to youth: “Microplastic Madness” and “Frozen Obsession.” Award-winning Virginian films will be shown on February 14, 2021.
