The 21-country “Media Freedom Coalition” issued a joint statement released on Saturday titled the Media Freedom Coalition Statement on Hong Kong’s Apple Daily, they stated their condemnation of the use of a China-imposed National Security Law in Hong Kong to shut down the paper and arrest many staff members of the Apple News Daily.

In a joint statement issued Saturday by the 21-country âMedia Freedom Coalition,â the governments condemned the use of a China-imposed National Security Law in Hong Kong to shut down the paper and arrest owner Jimmy Lai and staff. They expressed âstrong concernsâ about the closing and warned about the potential of increased media censorship if further legislation is passed.
