SINGAPORE - Higher-risk settings such as indoor gyms and indoor fitness or health studios will be closed and mass participation events will be suspended from Saturday (May 8) to May 30 to minimise large Covid-19 cluster formation and reduce the risk of community transmission.
No spectators will be allowed at sports events during this period.
At a press conference on Tuesday, Education Minister Lawrence Wong, who co-chairs the multi-ministry task force (MTF) tackling the coronavirus pandemic in Singapore, announced stricter measures to stop the spread of Covid-19 in the wider community.
He said: There are some settings which are of higher risk. typically where there is a high density of people who are unmasked and in close proximity with one another, often for prolonged periods.

From Saturday, students will have to follow exam-style seating arrangements in classrooms and all activities conducted in public spaces such as learning journeys will be suspended.
Group sizes in all activities will also be reduced from eight to five people, and the overall capacity for activities such as lectures cannot exceed 50.
The remaining National School Games competitions will also be suspended, to minimise the intermingling of students across schools and institutions.

SINGAPORE: Remaining National School Games competitions and external activities such as external CCAs will be suspended as the Ministry of Education (MOE) enhances current safe management measures amid a rise in COVID-19 cases.
Singapore on Tuesday (May 4) announced tightened community measures, which are set to be in place from May 8 to May 30.

Enhanced measures will be rolled out at MOE kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, special education schools, junior colleges, Millennia Institute and institutes of higher learning (IHLs).
