American, Pakistani scientific studies address air quality July 13, 2021 Islamabad : Forty alumni of US Government-funded exchange programmes who work in environmental sciences participated in a three-day master class on ‘Regional Approaches to Air Quality and Environment.’ The US Mission in Pakistan and the Pakistan-US Alumni Network (PUAN) collaborated with the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) Professional Development Centre to host the class, which took place June 7-9, 2021. Presenters included NASA researcher Dr. James H. Crawford, among other American experts. The class employed a range of teaching techniques and academic resources to examine air quality and atmospheric calculations, and the health impacts of smog, examining the Punjab Government’s efforts to tackle these issues as a case study.

Indian media alleges Taliban captured Salma Dam in Herat July 8, 2021 ISLAMABAD: The Indian media in its latest propaganda barrage has alleged Taliban have seized the Indian-funded Salma Dam in Afghanistan’s Hirat province, an unsubstantiated claim, denied by the Afghan government and Taliban as well. According to the Indian media, Taliban last Monday took control of Salma Dam, also known as Afghanistan-India Friendship Dam, killing 16 security staff. The Indian media claimed: “The dam was captured by Taliban in few hours, after 10 years of hard work by 1,500 workers and engineers.” Taliban sources denying the Indian media reports said they would never harm any project(s) in Afghanistan which benefits the Afghan people.
