Office of the Provincial Commissioner Mpumalanga NELSPRUIT - The management of police in Mpumalanga has welcomed a hefty punishment that was imposed to a man who raped his 10-year-old niece on Christmas eve of 2019. The 35-year-old man was sentenced today, Thursday 08 April 2021, by the Kwaggasfontein Regional Court. The court sentenced the accused after details were heard on how the young girl became a victim in the hands of a man who was supposed to have protected her unconditionally. It is said that on 24 December 2019 at Kwaggafontein, he preyed on a little girl during the time when her mother and grandparents were not around. As her uncle, he was trusted to look after her.
Uncle sentenced to life for rape of 10 year-old niece
The 47-year old man who raped his niece had also tried to offer money to the victim s sister and cousin in exchange for sex.
A 47- year- old man was sentenced to life imprisonment in the Kwaggafontein Regional Court for raping his 10-year-old niece.
National Prosecuting Authority regional spokesperson Monica Nyuswa said that on the evening of 21 December 2019, the child had been playing on the veranda of her home when her uncle called her.
“He stayed in the same yard but in a different room. When she refused, the uncle grabbed her, covered her mouth with a cloth and dragged her into his room. He tied her hands and feet with a rope and raped her from behind,” Nyuswa said.

It emerged in court that the uncle was HIV positive when the rape occurred.

Johannesburg - Accused “sex pest” acting principal of John Martin Catholic School in Kagiso has been placed on precautionary special leave amid the revelation that the educator had a valid teaching certificate when he was appointed.
There was an outcry last week over the appointment of Motsamai Molete, a former educator from Phahama Secondary School in Mohlakeng, who was dismissed by the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) for misconduct, after he had sexually assaulted a learner and for improper and disgraceful conduct of a sexual nature towards learners in 2014.
