Small businesses were hit especially hard, with many industries such as restaurants, bars, hair and nail salons and tourism virtually shut down for much of the past year. But one industry has thrived during this time – guns. Pistols, rifles and shotguns are selling in numbers never seen before. Shopkeepers can’t keep ammunition on the shelves – or in many cases, even get it to the shelves. And the FBI is running background checks at a record pace.

In March 2020, Joe Biden got into a yelling match with several autoworkers over gun control measures during a campaign stop in Detroit, Michigan. He even went so far as to tell one of the workers he was “full of it” when the worker accused Biden of actively trying to diminish Second Amendment rights and take away guns.
