Faridkot, May 27 Though government schools have been directed to begin preparing Class X students for the National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) scheduled for May 31, the result of the exam conducted last year is yet to be declared. Held on December 20, 2020, the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) usually declares the result within 40-50 days after the exam. The delay has left many meritorious students sulking as they get scholarship in private institutions on the basis of their result in NTSE-Stage I. But as the results have been withheld amid pandemic, these students are being forced to pay full fee for their courses.

Covid outbreak: National Talent Search Examination postponed

The National Talent Search Examination (NTSE), which is conducted to select Class X students for scholarship till they complete higher studies, has been postponed in view of the Covid-19 outbreak. The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has issued a notice to postpone stage-II of the test, which was supposed to be held on June 13. Stage-I of the exam is conducted at the state level while stage-II is held at the national level. The NCERT has a state-wise quota system while allowing the stage-I qualified students. The stage-I exam has already been held. Students qualifying in stage-II get Rs 1,250 per month in Classes XI and XII and Rs 2,000 at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

BYJU S to acquire Aakash in $1-bn strategic deal

Future of learning is hybrid: CEO Byju Edtech platform BYJU’S on Monday entered into a strategic partnership with test preparatory services firm Aakash Educational Services Limited (AESL) to acquire the latter for approximately $1 billion. The company declined to reveal details about the valuation and other financial details. Private equity major Blackstone-backed AESL currently runs 215 test centres that prepare students for medical and engineering entrance exams, school/board exams, Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojna (KVPY), National Talent Search Examination (NTSE), Olympiads, and other foundation level exams, BYJU’S said in a statement. “The future of learning is hybrid and this union [with Aakash] will bring together the best of offline and online learning,” Byju Raveendran, founder, and CEO, BYJU’S said. “The pandemic has brought the importance of the blended format of learning to the forefront,” he added.
