NATIONAL SPECIALLY-ABLED PETS DAY
Annually on May 3rd, National Specially-abled Pets Day shines a spotlight on the needs of pets with disabilities.
This day is set aside to educate the public about caring for disabled pets. The day features disabled animals looking for a home. It also encourages animal lovers to consider choosing a disabled pet when they are looking at adopting a new pet family member. Before you adopt a pet with special needs, consider the time, energy, and financial needs, too.
Do you need special training? Depending on your pet’s needs you may need to learn some new skills. If your pet requires injections or certain types of therapy, you will be the one to provide the services.

Andrew Yang explains his infamous dog tweet and why he uses Twitter like the rest of us Travis Andrews Andrew Yang managed the impossible: He got dragged for tweeting a photo of a dog. The occasion for the tweet was April 11’s National Pets Day, one of those faux Internet animal holidays that gives everyone an excuse to post pics of their furry pals. The problem was that he posted a photo of dog he no longer owned. Above two photos of a snow-white pup, he wrote that he was “celebrating our dog Grizzly who we raised as a puppy but had to give away because one of our boys became allergic to him. Miss you Grizz!”
Adopt a Pet From This Binghamton Animal Shelter National Pet Day is April 11th and you could put a smile on a cat s or dog s face. Colleen Paige, pet and family lifestyle expert, started National Pet Day in 2006 and they are celebrating its 15th year on Sunday.
She wanted to bring attention to the ongoing needs of pets of all kinds that are waiting to be adopted. During the past year were you quarantined, stuck inside, bored, lonely, or stressed? Then you know the kind of life that a shelter pet is living.
Broome County Humane Society
I have 3 pets, 2 cats (Shane and Capricorn), and 1 dog (CJ). We adopted the cats from the Broome County Humane Society, 167 Conklin Avenue in Binghamton. The BC Human Society receives no government funding, so the pandemic was extremely hard on them.
