Lord Nelson s protégé s rare gold naval medal estimated to fetch £60-80,000 at auction
The superb and exceptionally rare small Captains Naval Gold Medal for The Battle of Lissa in 1811, awarded to Captain Sir William Hoste K.C.B., Royal Navy (1780 1828), the protégé of Admiral Lord Nelson.
LONDON
.-Morton and Eden announced the forthcoming auction of the superb and exceptionally rare small naval gold medal for the Battle of Lissa in the Adriatic Sea in 1811, awarded to Captain Sir William Hoste K.C.B., Royal Navy, one of Admiral Lord Nelsons most highly regarded protégés. The medal is estimated to fetch £60,000 - 80,000 when it is included in the sale of Medals, Orders and Decorations on 13 July 2021.
