JOHANNESBURG, 28 December Officials are not yet certain if Ananias Mathe s body will be repatriated to Mozambique. Mathe, one of the country s most infamous prisoners, died in a Durban hospital after being treated for stomach ailments for several weeks.
DURBAN, December 28 (ANA) – The family of Annanias Mathe, the serial rapist and armed robber who made history when he became the only person to escape from Pretoria’s C-Max prison, have been informed of his death and will be given an opportunity to collect his body after a postmortem has been completed.
The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Correctional Services provincial commissioner, Mnikelwa Nxele, confirmed Mathe’s death, saying the officials had been in touch with his family as well as Mozambique’s consul in Durban.

Proponents of antiparasitic drug Ivermectin, which has been touted as a miracle drug and possible treatment for Covid-19, have been making a lot of noise about it again recently despite a lack of clinical trials on its use and effectiveness to treat the coronavirus.
The South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (Sahpra) has not approved Ivermectin for human use, citing issues around the lack and quality of existing trials. But a growing number of people are calling for its use in Covid-19 treatment globally and in South Africa.
