A crowd swelled to around 300, gathering in downtown Memphis to show support for the Palestinian people in light of recent Israeli strikes in Gaza City.
“Long live Palestine,” they chanted. “Free, free Palestine” and “Hey hey, ho ho, the occupation has got to go” as they marched from Memphis City Hall toward the National Civil Rights Museum.
On Sunday, Israeli airstrikes in Gaza City flattened three buildings and killed at least 42 people, according to the Associated Press, making it the deadliest single attack since heavy fighting broke out between Israel and the territory’s militant Hamas rulers nearly a week ago.
