Document reintroduced constitutional rule, strengthened economic and social rights, including rights for women
Some 98.4% of Bahraini voters approved in a national referendum on Feb. 14-15, 2001 adoption of the National Action Charter, a document put forward by then-Emir Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa – now the country’s king, to end the 1990s uprising and return the country to constitutional rule.
Today, supporters of the government and the opposition disagree on the degree to which the charter’s sections on political rights and the work of political parties have been realized, but both support implementation of its articles related to economic and social rights.

A list of 67 potential sites for a radioactive waste storage facility has been published by Societa Gestione Impianti Nucleari SpA (Sogin), the Italian state-owned company responsible for dismantling the country s nuclear power plants. The publication of the list on 5 January, announced in five national newspapers, started a period of public consultation.

Following approval by the Ministry of Economic Development (MiSE) and the Ministry of the Environment and Protection of the Territory and the Sea (MATTM), Sogin published the National Charter of Potentially Suitable Areas (CNAPI) to host the national radioactive waste store and a technological park. It also released all the documents related to the project.

Thailand is forging ahead with its plans to become a developed digital hub in the Southeast Asian region, as part of its Thailand 4.0 policy that was outlined way back before the pandemic, in 2019.
The COVID-19 situation did, however, highlight to what extent that digital tools and enhancements could play in a city, as Thailand relied on both 5G networking technology and 5G-enabled tech enhancements to support overwhelmed public health services even early on in its pandemic response.
