First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo
First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, has received a humongous, love-shaped fresh-flower bouquet from her husband, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, as a Valentine’s Day gift.
Sharing a photo of the gift on her Twitter handle, a delighted Rebecca wrote, “Thank you my hubby dearest @NAkufoAddo Happy Chocolate Day.”

The day is to promote the eating of Ghana’s chocolates, produced from its cocoa.
Some traders in the Tema Central Business District have said the high cost of gifts and souvenirs was affecting patronage ahead of Valentine’s Day celebration on Sunday.
Mrs Mary Ofori, a provision shop owner at Tema Centre, told the Ghana News Agency at Tema that customers hardly came around to buy valentine gifts and souvenirs.
She attributed the low patronage high cost to increased duties, restrictions at the major entry points and the general fear of COVID-19.
Mrs Ofori said that most people were buying chocolate instead of Panties, Teddy Bears, Wine, Jewelleries, Irish cream, Toffees and flowers that used to be the preferred gifts in the past.
Leader of the Minority caucus in Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu, has explained that the celebration of February 14 as a day of love is not a license for people to indulge in promiscuity.
In a video message to the public as the world marks Valentine s Day, and in Ghana, as the country celebrates National Chocolate Day today, the Member of Parliament for Tamale South encouraged all to patronize made-in-Ghana chocolates to promote the economy. Eat chocolate, stay health, and grow Ghana. Eat cocoa not for purposes of observing 14th February for purposes of promiscuity, but 14th Feb use it to contribute to the growth of Ghana s economy.
