Senators pass statement due to Belarusian flag incident in Latvia

MINSK, 25 May (BelTA) – The Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus has passed a statement due to the incident involving Belarus state flag in Latvia, BelTA has learned.
The statement reads: “Members of the Council of the Republic and the House of Representatives were outraged to hear about actions involving a state flag of the Republic of Belarus in Riga. This action represents a continuation of Latvia s unfriendly policy towards Belarus. The National Assembly of Belarus views it as a violation of international law.”
Belarusian parliament s address to president adopted
MINSK, 25 May (BelTA) - At a meeting of the fifth session of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus of the seventh convocation senators adopted an address to the president to introduce a bill to the House of Representatives on amending the Constitution, which provides for the simultaneous holding of elections to the local councils of deputies of the 29th convocation and to the House of Representatives of the 8th convocation, BelTA has learned.
Chairman of the Council of the Republic s Standing Committee on Legislation and Nation Building Sergei Sivets said that the issue was discussed at the joint session of the chambers of the Belarusian parliament on 19 May.
Council of Republic initiates statement on ‘outrageous incident with Belarus state flag in Riga
MINSK, 25 May (BelTA) - The Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus has initiated a statement regarding an ‘outrageous incident with the Belarusian national flag in Riga, Sergei Rachkov, Chairman of the International Affairs and National Security Commission of the Council of the Republic, told BelTA.
At the meeting on 25 May the Council of the Republic s presidium decided that the corresponding statement would be made at the forthcoming session. The initiative was supported by the House of Representatives MPs.
“We are outraged by the actions carried out by the high-ranking political and state officials of the Republic of Latvia in Riga with regard to the Belarusian state flag,” said Sergei Rachkov.
