Seniors channel radio s classics for new group | Community Alert

A group of EdenHill Community residents is traveling back in time to the golden age of radio. After coming onboard as EdenHill’s lifestyle director last summer amid the pandemic, Marcie Murfield surveyed residents to see what kinds of new activities they might like to participate in. Two residents approached Murfield about starting a group that would read old-time radio plays. Murfield discovered some classic radio scripts online, and the Reader’s Theatre came to fruition. “It sounded fun,” Murfield said. “We did an introductory meeting. I just put it on the calendar to see who would show up. We found some scripts online that are not under copyright anymore, and we just started reading. Some of the other ladies joined, and here we are.”

NBC SVG Eyeing La Soufriere. Speaking on NBC Radio this morning, the Prime Minister said the   team has done a remarkable job, leaving their homes at night to host the program. The program which was hosted by General Manager Dionne John and Program Manager Colvin Harry was introduced as part of NBC Radio’s 24-hour programming, to provide the latest available information from the scientists monitoring the activity at La Soufriere Volcano and to provide support to evacuees at the shelters. There was also a psycho-social element to the program which featured several agencies and NGO’s who played their part in supporting the Recovery Effort.
