A sandwich wrapper from nearly 30 years ago has been discovered on Deeside estate – renewing calls for walkers to be mindful of the impact plastic has on the environment.
The wrapper, which has a use by date of March 23 1992, was found beneath a stone on the Mar Lodge Estate in the Cairngorms.

Creag an Lochain has long been known for the diverse wildflowers on its ledges and the insect life this supports. Recent findings have shown that it’s one of the most important areas in Scotland for invertebrates.
On the western flank of Meall nan Tarmarchan, Creag an Lochain is an area of broken crags which extends over a distance of 2km, overlooking the waters of Lochan na Lairige. A number of rare insects have been recorded here over the years; one of these is the mountain plume (
