When I was young, I remember my dad telling a story about someone he knew who was working out in the yard on a hot Louisiana summer day. As the story goes, the man went inside and drank a cold glass of water and dropped to the floor. The man died from a heart attack. My dad always said the heart attack was caused by the cold water. Fast forward about 45 years, every time I come inside after working out in the yard and have a cold drink of water, I think of my dad s story. So I decided to research leading articles and websites to find out if my dad s belief about the guy dying after quickly drinking an entire glass of cold water had any merit. Turns out, it depends on who you ask.
