Treasury Department Begins Processing PSP Requests

 - January 25, 2021, 11:44 AM On Friday, the Treasury Department began sending agreements to Part 135 carriers that applied for assistance under the second version of the Payroll Support Program (PSP) that Congress authorized late last year under the Fiscal Year 2021 Consolidated Appropriations Act, according to the National Air Transportation Association (NATA). The act set aside $15 billion to cover passenger air carrier worker compensation and $1 billion for their contractors. The Treasury Department has released a list of about 240 applicants, NATA noted, advising members to contact the association if they applied for PSP support before January 15 but did not see their names on the list.

FAA Opens Mx, Pilot Workforce Development Grant Program

 - January 20, 2021, 10:28 AM The FAA is soliciting applications for maintenance and pilot workforce development grants. Aircraft Pilots Workforce Development Grants of between $25,000 and $500,000 are available for programs that are designed to expand the pilot workforce and educate students to become pilots, aerospace engineers, or unmanned systems operators. Similar Aviation Maintenance Technical Workers Workforce Development Grants are available for programs that prepare an inclusive base of aviation maintenance technicians. Applications will be accepted through March 22. The estimated total funding for each program is $5 million. Both grant programs were created under a measure included in the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018. FAA Rolls Out Single Repository for Guidance

 - January 18, 2021, 9:54 AM In a move lauded by industry groups, the FAA has launched a Dynamic Regulatory System (DRS) that will serve as a central repository for all regulatory guidance from its Office of Aviation. The DRS amasses more than 65 document types from a dozen databases amounting to more than two million regulatory guidance documents into a single, searchable location, the FAA said. This includes all information contained with the Flight Standards Information Management System and the agency s Regulatory Guidance System and involves pending, current, and historical versions of all documents. Information will update every 24 hours, and the DRS is anticipated to evolve to include more features and functions.
