Kenya’s Health Minister suspended flights to and from India for 14 days on Wednesday following an uproar on social media that demanded the East African nation take action on the coronavirus.
Mutahi Kagwe said the National Emergency Response Committee (NERC) held a crisis meeting and decided that because of the catastrophic situation in India and surging COVID-19 infections, measures had to be taken to curb the spread of the virus.
Kagwe said that “given the dire events in India, we resolved to suspend all passenger flights in and out of the country for a period of 14 days. This suspension is to take effect from midnight this coming Saturday.”
Kenya to suspend India passenger services for 14 days
Kenya s Ministry of Health, via its official Facebook account, announced (28-Apr-2021) the country s National Emergency Response Committee resolved to suspend all passenger air services to and from
India for 14 days, effective 01-May-2021 and subject to review. All passengers arriving in Kenya from India prior to 01-May-2021 will undergo rapid COVID-19 antigen testing and will be required to complete 14 days of quarantine. Air cargo services between Kenya and India will continue to operate.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has announced that the government has suspended flights to and from India for 14 days following a spike in Covid-19 infections in the country.
In a press briefing, Kagwe issued 72 hours to Kenyans who are travelling from India to do so.
The passengers are required to get tested and if they turn out positive for Covid-19 go on quarantine for two weeks on arrival in the Country.

Speaking from Moi County Referral Hospital in Voi, Taita Taveta County, Kagwe stated that cargo flights would be exempted from the directive.
