A SALMON farmer s plans to site 12 fish cages in one of north west Sutherland s most beautiful sea bays has caused an uproar among local residents. The small rural community of Clashnessie, near Drumbeg, claim the cages will not only ruin their view, one of the most scenic in the county, but also pollute the beaches and turn away tourists who are the area s lifeblood.

The Martin Luther King Jr. who is introduced to most American schoolchildren is a tragic hero not just in a colloquial sense, but also in a mythological one. Greek tragedy is driven by characters just like the King described in textbooks. They’re brilliant and virtuous, yet doomed by a small error in judgment. King’s flaw, we are taught, was his idealism, which both made him a civil-rights hero and brought about his downfall. If we are to believe American textbooks, or even the speech President Ronald Reagan gave when he announced the establishment of a national holiday for King in 1987, we’d think this was the end of the story: The hero sacrificed his life for the dream of a color-blind justice, and the U.S. government has since been working to realize that vision.

President-elect Joe Biden outlined his administration s vaccination plan on Friday as the U.S. has seen more than 23 million confirmed coronavirus cases and over 392,000 deaths, according to NBC News.
So far, more than 11 million Americans, or 3% of the total U.S. population, have received their first shot. But rapid expansion of COVID-19 vaccinations to senior citizens across the U.S. has led to bottlenecks, system crashes and hard feelings in many states.
